Fort Dodge bowlers in action

The Fort Dodge bowling teams ran into tough competition on Monday at the Family Bowling Center.

The Dodger boys lost to Marshalltown 3,437-2,629.

“Despite losing by a large margin, I was very pleased with the way our boys bowled,” said Fort Dodge boys coach Julie Ulrich. “We improved our total by almost 400 pins compared to last week’s meet and a few boys put up some really nice scores.”

Slade Babb turned in the top series for the Dodgers, rolling a 437. He had games of 246 and 191. Leland Sassman was next in line with a 407. Sassman had games of 265 and 142.

Shadin Roach had a 351 (187, 164). Also competing for Fort Dodge was Holden Doster (176-133–309), Blake Seeman (150-137–287) and Bailen Peterson (122-124–246).

The Dodger junior varsity won 1,697-1,627.

Liam Powers had the top score at 289. Powers had games of 105 and 184.

Also for the Dodger JV, Jaxton Jones had a 274 series, followed by Eli Johnson (236), Jake Pingel (227), Sawyer Evans (148) and Tyler Halbach (119).

“Slade led the way with a 437 and Leland had the high game of 265,” Ulrich said. “Holden saw his first varsity action and did a nice job, leading our baker’s team portion with five strikes and marking 90 percent of his frames.”

The Dodger girls lost to Marshalltown 1,876-1,671.

Calli Graves led the Dodgers with a 319. Graves had games of 139 and 170.

Also competing for the Dodgers was Ara Elias (147-126–273), Joely Gilbert (116-109–225), Liva Kalvig (94-71–165), Maryah McDonald (62-99–161), and Cierra Robell (85-62–147).”We just have to find more consistency,” said Fort Dodge girls head coach Nick Vinson. “We have a low game and then a higher game in individuals by 30 some pins, so there is consistency.

“We also have to find marks in baker’s.”

The Dodgers are back in action on Monday when they travel to Des Moines East.
