Dodgers win twice at lanes

DES MOINES — The Fort Dodge bowling teams picked up a pair of wins on Monday at Des Moines Hoover.

The Dodger girls (2-2 overall) won 1,831-1,486. The Fort Dodge boys (1-2) picked up their first win with a 2,538-1657 victory.

“It was great to get our first win,” said Fort Dodge boys coach Julie Ulrich. “The boys had a good meet overall, and this win gives us some confidence headed into our triangular meet at home on Friday.”

Slade Babb paced the Dodgers with a 395. Babb had games of 220 and 175. Blake Seeman also had a 300 series, with a 381. He had a 204 and 177. Shadin Roach had a 377. He had a 164 and 213.

Also rolling for the Dodgers was Leland Sassman (155-125–280), Holden Doster (133-115–248) and Bailen Peterson (101-123–224).

“Slade, Blake and Shadin all three bowled really well. They put up the scores I’d like to see across the board from our five guys that combine to give us our single total.”

Calli Graves led the Dodger girls with a 303 series. Graves had games of 146 and 157. Ara Elias rolled a 119 and 169 for a 288.

Also competing for the Dodgers was Joey Gilbert who had a 220 (105, 115). Cierra Robell had a 211 with games of 91 and 120. Liva Kalvig rolled a 196 (112-84). Maryah McDonald (76) and Kaylie Guthrie (93) split a series.

“We are starting to see more consistency,” said Fort Dodge girls head coach Nick Vinson. “Cierra had her first series over 200 and Joely was over 200 again.

“They work and they listen. They want to do better and get more consistency.”

The boys junior varsity stayed unbeaten with their third win. Fort Dodge won 1,774-1,336.

Lium Powers led the JV with a 252 (123-129). Jaxton Jones followed with a 245 (99-146). Also competing for the JV was Tyler Halbach (120-122–242), Jake Pingel (118-109–227), Eli Johnson (113-102–215) and Jesse Flores (90-106–196).

The Dodgers are back in action on Friday when they host Estherville-Lincoln Central at the Family Bowling Center. Action begins at 3 p.m.
