Dodger bowlers lose twice

MASON CITY — The Fort Dodge bowling teams dropped a pair of matches to Mason City on Tuesday.

The Fort Dodge boys fell 2,651-2,651. The Dodger girls lost 2,478-1,787.

For the Dodger boys freshman Holden Doster led the Dodgers with a 396. He had games of 197 and 199. Blake Seeman was next in line with a 373. He had games of 223 and 150.

“The boys struggled with some dry lane conditions and a few of them just couldn’t find the pocket,” said Fort Dodge boys coach Julie Ulrich. “It was great to see freshman Holden Doster leading the team with a break out night.”

Also counting for the Dodgers was Slade Babb had a (147-149–296), Leland Sassman (125-161–286), Lium Powers (145-129–274) and Bailen Peterson (145-123–268).

Calli Graves led the Dodgers with a 394 series. She had games of 225 and 169.

Also competing for the Dodgers was Ara Elias (113-144–257), Kaylie Guthrie (91-103–194), Cierra Robell (77-101–178) and Joely Gilbert (98-88–186).

The Fort Dodge boys JV picked up their third win, with a 1,896-1,780 win over Mason City. Tyler Halbach led the Dodgers with a 279 (145-134). Also rolling for the Dodgers was Aidan Russell (109-169–278), Jake Pingel (123-126–249, Eli Johnson (112-119–231) and Jaxton Jones (123-104–227).

Maryah McDonald had a 187 for the junior varsity and Liva Kalvig had a 169.

“Calli threw the ball where she wanted to all night long,” said Fort Dodge head coach Nick Vinson. “She did a good job of picking up spares. She covered almost every spare she had. It was fun to see her have one of those nights.

“Ara had a big bounce back. She had to grind out those scores and she wants to get to a place where she is more consistent.”
