Competing back at Hodges Fieldhouse for the first time in almost a month, the Iowa Central women put on a show.

The Tritons scored a 91-58 victory over Southeastern here Wednesday, improving to 7-1 on the year and 2-0 in the ICCAC.

This marked the first time in 2025 that the Tritons have surpassed the 90-point mark, eclipsing a previous high of 83 in a victory at home over Central Lakes-Brainerd last month.

Iowa Central’s Ashlin Jacobsen, a returning sophomore, scored a career-high 33 points, knocking down nine 3-pointers. She also had seven rebounds, seven assists and two steals.

Shakani Murray recorded a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Trista Ohlmeier, the reigning ICCAC player of the week, added 18 points with five rebounds and four blocks.

As a team, the Tritons shot 61 percent from the field and were 17-for-25 from the 3-point line. They also had 27 assists on 34 made field goals.

“On offense, I think we moved the ball really well around the perimeter, and our posts did a great job of hitting open shooters,” Jacobsen said. “This comes with being unselfish and trusting our teammates to do their jobs.”

Mia Stokes led Southeastern (5-5, 0-2) with 16 points, while Avelle Bonfoh had 13 and Makyla Woods 11.

Jacobsen set the tone early with four made triples and 16 points to highlight a 31-point first quarter for the home squad. From there, Iowa Central built a commanding 51-33 advantage at the break and never looked back.

“It was awesome to see our group share the ball,” ICCC head coach Graham McFall said. “We shot it with confidence. It felt like the basket was the size of the ocean.

“It was a complete team win, with a lot of players stepping up in different ways.”

Ohlmeier scored nine points in the third period, and Jacobsen finished things off by going 4-for-4 from deep with 12 points over the final 10 minutes of the lopsided contest.

The Tritons made six triples in the fourth and shot 8 of 11 overall from the floor. They also matched their win total from all of last season in the process.

“This start has been super important to us,” Jacobsen said. “We’ve really been able to find our flow and work together to keep getting better.”

Kaydence Nicholas came off the bench to score 12 points with seven rebounds and six assists, and both Amelia Echternkamp and MacKenna Bush contributed eight points.

Iowa Central hits the road for a conference date with Iowa Lakes in Estherville on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m. before returning home to face second-ranked Kirkwood next Wednesday.

Along with the Eagles, North Iowa Area is 11th this week and Des Moines Area 16th in the latest poll. The Tritons are receiving votes, as is Iowa Western.
