Triton men get to 100 again in rout

KANSAS CITY — The Iowa Central men’s basketball squad reached the century mark for a fifth consecutive time with a 100-86 victory over Kansas City-Kansas on Saturday.

The sixth-ranked Tritons (8-0 overall) stayed unbeaten with another balanced effort. Six Iowa Central players reached double figures, led by Aleix Sempere’s 20 points. The sophomore also pulled down 11 rebounds.

Manny Lueth (17 points), Jalen Wynter (17), Jordan Cain (16), Tashun Pender (15) and CJ Mitchell (10) all scored at least 10 points as well. Mitchell dished out 10 assists and contributed four steals.

Pender pulled down eight rebounds.

The Tritons led 56-39 at halftime and never looked back. They shot 56 percent from the field and drilled 11 of their 22 three-point tries.

Iowa Central’s next game is at Northeast (Neb.) on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
