Wolverine senior Schupbach breaks through

SIOUX RAPIDS — Tyra Schupbach captured her first Twin Lakes Conference cross country championship on Thursday.

Schupbach has finished in the Top-5 all four of her years, placing fourth last year, third as a sophomore and a fifth as a freshman. She claimed her first championship in 20:12.2, nearly one minute ahead of runner-up Sage Weber (21:03.3) of Sioux Central.

Sioux Central (33) completed the sweep of boys and girls team championships. Manson Northwest Webster (73) was the silver medalist on thee girls side, followed by Alta-Aurelia (78), Newell-Fonda (87) and Emmetsburg (99).

All five of the Cougar runners placed in the Top-20. Kate Hildreth was the top runner for Manson Northwest Webster, taking 11th in 23:32.5. Raygin Anderson (23:38.5 in 13th), Hayden Oswald (24:38.1) in 20th, Caroline Peterson (24:51.5 in 22nd) and Payton Petersen (24:56.3 in 23rd) followed for MNW.

Newell-Fonda’s Danika Meyer (22:07.8) was sixth and Quinn Sievers (22:16.6) took eighth. Elliot Hamilton (23:50.0 in 15th), Kyia Copp (26:24.1 in 32nd) and Vienna Wingert (29:07.8 in 44th) were next in line for the Mustangs.

Emmetsburg’s Rachel Schany (21:11.8) was the bronze medalist. Taylor Thayer (25:28.8 in 27th), Caroline Burdick (25:37.2 in 28th), Abigail Biddle (26:11.8 in 31st) and Mya Morton (26:44.9 in 33rd) completed the E-Hawk lineup.

Southeast Valley’s Katie Field (25:06.1) was the team’s top runner in 24th. Charlie Dorsey (26:09.0 in 29th), Ruby Stimpson (28:11.5 in 40th), Brooke Peterson (29:42.2 in 47th) and Meia Hefley (31:02.0 in 48th) also competed for the Jaguars.

Pocahontas Area runners were Sawyer Storms (23:39.1 in 21st), Natalie Sommerlot (27:38.6 in 38th), Khloe Mefferd (27:44.1 in 39th), Ashlyn Duitscher (29:40.5 in 46th) and Brooklyn Hubbell (31:44.7 in 49th).

After Schupbach, Lilly Morey (23:42.3) of West Bend-Mallard placed 14th, Maddie Fehr (25:08.4 was 25th) and Nevayda Ingram (28:22.9) crossed in 41st.

For South Central Calhoun, Iris Melody (22:20.7) crossed in ninth, followed by Jossa Haupert (23:56.0 in 16th), Abigail Kistenmacher (26:09.5 in 30th) and Ailey Korleski 933:50.9 in 52nd).
