Tritons come up short
The Iowa Central women’s soccer team was denied the ICCAC Div. II title here Wednesday, falling to Iowa Lakes, 2-0.
With the win, the No. 15 Lakers will secure the top seed for the upcoming Region 11 Tournament, finishing 7-1 atop the conference. The 16th-ranked Tritons and No. 19 Hawkeye both went 6-2 while Northeast was 5-1-1 in the league.
The Region 11 Tournament begins on Saturday with three first round games. The higher seed will host throughout the single-elimination tournament.
Up first for the Tritons will be North Iowa Area back here at 2 p.m. The winner faces either Northeast or Dakota County in the semifinals.
Iowa Central saw its two-match win streak come to an end, as they fell to 10-5 on the year. All five losses have been to ranked teams, including two NJCAA Div. I programs in Iowa Western and Indian Hills.

The Iowa Central men’s soccer team suffered a 3-0 loss here Wednesday to No. 7 Iowa Lakes.
After putting together a six-match win streak, the 18th-ranked Tritons end the year going 0-2-1, including a pair of home shutout losses.
Iowa Central (11-4-1 overall, 5-3-1 in ICCAC) will now prepare for the Region 11 Tournament, which begins Saturday with two opening round matches.
