The Iowa Central men’s golf team continued their strong fall campaign by claiming the Quad Cup here Thursday at the Fort Dodge Country Club.

After besting North Iowa Area to begin the day, the Tritons downed Des Moines Area in the finals, as Francis Lockwood secured the match-winning points.

The Bears had advanced with a win over Iowa Lakes.

Iowa Central took the match over DMACC, 2.5-1.5 after topping NIACC, 3-1. The Bears earned a 2.5-1.5 win over the Lakers.

Instead of the usual tournament-format played, this event consists of six holes of scramble, six holes alternate shot followed by six holes of four-ball. Each match was worth a point, with a tie resulting in a half-point.

Francis Lockwood, Cael Nixon, Eric Zuniga, Peyton Walker, Filip Jarheden, Axel Haglund, August Nord and Logan Fogarty were in action for the Tritons on Thursday.

Earlier this year, Iowa Central broke the team 18-hole scoring record with a 13-under 275 at the NIACC Invitational as eight players shot under-par, which was also a school-record.

They finished second at a home invitational as Lockwood won an individual title, and were crowned “War at the Moor” champions.

Starting at $4.94/week.
