Streak stays alive for Bears
ALGONA — The run is now at 23 straight regular season wins for Bishop Garrigan.
Now, it’s time to keep another streak alive.
The Golden Bears (8-0 overall, 5-0 8-player-1) blanked West Bend-Mallard (2-6), 56-0 on Friday night in their regular season finale.
Now, top-ranked Bishop Garrigan will begin its trek toward a potential third consecutive trip to the UNI-Dome. The Bears were semifinalists last year, and state champions in 2023.
Tate Foertsch continued his dominance, throwing for three touchdowns and returning an interception 22 yards for a score.
Foertsch connected with Dalton Klenz (12), Madden Miller (nine) and Michael Joyce (15) for TDs.
Foertsch finished with 4-for-9 for 45 yards and the three scores and had four carries for 50 yards.
Ethan Marso had another strong ground effort, scoring twice on runs of four and 39 yards. He carried the ball 10 times for 110 yards overall.
CJ McGregor added a 12-yard touchdown run and ran the ball four times for 52 yards.
Gage Meyer was perfect on eight extra-point attempts.
Foertsch had two interceptions, while McGregor had one.
Weston Rosemeyer had a fumble recovery.
Carter Schwab had four tackles, five assists and a sack in the victory for Garrigan.
