Jaguars can’t catch Spirit Lake
SPIRIT LAKE –Spirit Lake put Southeast Valley’s backs against the wall in front of their Homecoming crowd on Friday night.
The Indians (2-5 overall, 1-3 Class 2A, District 2) built a 39-7 halftime lead over the Jaguars (3-4, 1-3), holding on for a 56-27 victory.
Southeast Valley will have a shot at the playoffs with a victory next week. If it’s a two-way tie with OABCIG, the Jaguars are in; if it’s a three-way tie, it will go to IHSAA ranking or alphabetical.
Casey Hanson and Mason Bahr both had a rushing and throwing touchdowns.
Bahr ran from 74 yards out and connected with Bryce Harrsion for a 34-yard strike. Bahr had nine carries for 107 yards.
Hanson was 9-for-12 passing for 125 yards and and a 20-yard scoring strike to Colin Johnson. He scored from three yards out.
Harrison had three catches for 72 yards and Johnson had two grabs for 60 yards.
