WEBSTER CITY — The fifth-ranked (Class 3A) Humboldt volleyball team secured at least a share of the North Central Conference title with a sweep over rival Webster City here Thursday night.

Scores were 25-11, 25-11 and 25-16.

The Wildcats (21-6 overall, 6-0 in the league) have won 15 consecutive conference matches, with the last loss coming on Sept. 26, 2023 to St. Edmond. They won the league title outright last year and shared it in 2023 with Algona.

Humboldt will open 3A, Region 5 play on Oct. 21 when they host Charles City. A win advances them to the semifinals to face either New Hampton or Iowa Falls-Alden.

The highest-ranked team in the regional finals will be the host for the match. The bottom half of the Region 5 bracket includes No. 12 Roland-Story, Hampton-Dumont/CAL, Williamsburg and PCM.

For Webster City, Tristyn Wright had six kills and five digs while Evie Davis added four kills and a block. The Lynx host Mason City in a 4A, Region 3 opener on Oct. 21.

Starting at $4.94/week.
