Gaels fall on the road

CONRAD — The St. Edmond volleyball team saw the season come to an end here Monday in Class 1A regional action.
The Gaels were swept by No. 6 BCLUW in a 1A, Region 8 semifinal.
Scores were 25-17, 25-21 and 25-22.
BCLUW (35-8 overall) advances to face Ankeny Christian (28-13) on Wednesday in a regional final for a spot in the upcoming state tournament.
For St. Edmond, they end the season 10-22 overall and graduate seniors Madi Davis, Anna Lursen, Faith Shirbroun, Ava Underberg, Ava Andrew and Maggie Flaherty.
Eden Horn led the way for the Gaels, as the freshman had eight kills, two blocks and an ace.
Junior Chloe Palmer added six kills, Shirbroun and Underberg each had five kills with a block, and Andrew tallied two aces.
Manson NW ousted
DENVER — The Manson Northwest Webster volleyball team dropped a Class 2A regional semifinal to top-ranked Denver here Monday.
Scores were 25-10, 25-9 and 25-8.
For the Cougars, they finish the year 20-12 and graduate seniors Peyton Davis, Josie Eidal and Addison McCullough.
Denver (46-1 overall) will face Bellevue on Wednesday in Independence for a spot in the state tournament.
E-Hawks win thriller
EMMETSBURG — The 11th-ranked Emmetsburg volleyball team moved one win away from qualifying for state, scoring a five-set victory over Central Lyon here Monday night.
Scores were 25-19, 25-27, 25-14, 24-26 and 15-9.
The E-Hawks (25-4 overall) will play No. 3 Hinton (27-2) Wednesday in Orange City at MOC-Floyd Valley in a regional final.
Raiders bounced
PARKERSBURG — The East Sac County volleyball team was swept by ninth-ranked Aplington-Parkersburg here Monday in Class 2A regional play.
Scores were 25-8, 25-12 and 25-16.
For the Raiders, they finish the year 18-15 overall and graduate Jordin Carroll, Haley Jo King, Denae Thayer, Olvya Mack, Sarah Bontrager, Katelyn Schmitt, Rylen Johnson, Emerson Ludwig and Miley Monahan.
Aplington-Parkersburg (27-10) meets No. 7 Riverside in Van Meter on Wednesday.
WB-M falls in four
COON RAPIDS — The West Bend-Mallard volleyball team dropped a four-setter to Coon Rapids-Bayard here Monday night.
Scores were 25-15, 25-23, 22-25 and 25-20.
The Wolverines end their season at 22-6, as they graduate Mia Lowe, Chloe Dickey, Addie Montag, Allie Fehr, Morgan Montag and Laelah Crawmer.
Coon Rapids-Bayard (25-2 overall) advances to the Class 1A, Region 1 final vs. No. 1 Saint Ansgar on Wednesday in Algona.
