MARSHALLTOWN — The Fort Dodge cross country teams ran at a Class 4A state-qualifying meet on Wednesday.

Junior Jayce Point turned in the top performance for the Dodger boys, placing 41st. Point finished in 17:50.0

Freshman Jones Hensley was right behind in 43rd place in a time of 17:55.5.

Other counters for Fort Dodge were sophomores Corban McHone (51st in 18:36.9), Joos Langkjaer (55th in 18:53.9), and senior Aidan Recker (60th in 19:12.1).

Also running for the Dodgers were senior Jaxson Lowrey-Jones (64th in 19:47.6) and sophomore Myles Summers (67th in 21:25.6).

“Jayce, Jones and Joos had personal best times,” said Fort Dodge head coach Joe Jackson. “Corban and Aidan ran close to their season bests.

“We have a solid group coming back with Cael returning for his senior year after not running this season. We had some guys drop three to four minutes of time over the season.”

On the boys side, Cedar Falls (39), Dubuque Hempstead (69) and Waukee Northwest (82) were state qualifiers. Jaden Merrick of Cedar Falls was the boy champion.

For the girls, sophomore Linnie Pratt finished in 43rd place in a time of 22:05.7.

Also running for Fort Dodge was junior Saiya Noborikawa (46th in 22:36.8), sophomore Aileah Geopfert (50th in 24:27.9) and junior Madison Carmody (52nd in 24:50.8).

“The girls ran hard,” Jackson said. “There were a couple of PRs. Linnie ran hard and had a good race. With offseason workouts and weight lifting and building a base for next year, Linnie has a solid foundation.

“Saiya and Madison had personal best times and I’m really pleased with what they did. We have a good group coming back.”

Waukee Northwest (24), Cedar Falls (57) and Waukee (72) qualified for the state tournament.

Charlee Gall of Cedar Falls won the girls race.
