‘Cats keep playoff hopes alive

ORANGE CITY — The Humboldt football team kept their playoff hopes alive with a 21-7 victory over MOC-Floyd Valley here Friday night.

Jackson Flaherty had a pair of rushing touchdowns, hitting paydirt from 5 and 39 yards out, as Cash McIntire scored the other touchdown. The Wildcats (4-3 overall, 2-1 in district) scored a touchdown in the second, third and fourth quarters.

Chase Flaherty picked off two passes and Jaxson Kirchhoff caught two key first-down passes from Jackson Flaherty to keep scoring drives alive.

For MOC-Floyd Valley (4-3, 1-2) Carson Carmichael had a rushing touchdown while Dylan Maasdam had 91 yards rushing.

Humboldt is tied with Sioux Center for second in the district behind Bishop Heelan. The Wildcats and Sioux Center play in the final week after Humboldt hosts Heelan Friday night.
