Balanced Raiders claim XC gold

SIOUX RAPIDS — The East Sac County boys cross country team dominated the Twin Lakes Conference Meet on Thursday.

The Raiders placed three runners in the Top-5 and came away with the team championship, scoring 50 points. Sioux Central (53) was the runner-up, while Alta-Aurelia (89) was third. Manson Northwest Webster (96) and Southeast Valley (100) rounded out the Top-5.

Landon Sporrer (17:26.2) was the individual silver medalist for the Raiders, behind Lucos Wernimont (17:07.3) of Sioux Central.

Riley Aragon (17:38.8) and Owen Engel (17:48.6) were third and fourth for ESC, respectively. Xander Hemer (19:35.9) took 17th, while Oliver Engel (20:13.2) rounded out the scoring for East Sac County.

Senior Thatcher Oswald grabbed a Top-10 showing for Manson Northwest Webster, placing sixth in 18:02.4. Kyle Widlund (18:47.7) was 11th, while Rowan Poutre (19:05.5) placed 13th.

MNW’s Logan Meyer (20:27.6) and David Nelson (21:34.3) were 27th and 39th, respectively.

Southeast Valley’s Lincoln Akins (18:45.2) crossed in 10th for the Jaguars. Owen Nuss (19:10.9) also grabbed a place in the Top-20, with the 15th spot.

August Akins (19:54.5 in 22nd), Kasen Loeffler (20:07.9 in 23rd and Ethan Tucker (20:53.0 in 30th) rounded out the SV lineup card.

Emmetsburg’s Ben Cox (18:40.6) was the top performer for the E-Hawks in eighth, followed by Krayton Rutledge (19:47.1 in 19th), Elijah Cox (20:16.4 in 26th), Marshall Opperman (23:34.7 in 48th) and Jordyn Gonzalez (24:23.1 in 53rd).

Declan Spencer (19:27.1 in 16th) paced South Central Calhoun, with Joe Thielen (20:47.7 in 29th), Logan Rubendall (21:31.3 in 38th), Brent Thielen (21:36.7 in 40th) and Derek Greene (22:20.5 in 45th) next in line for the Titans.

Austin Barber (19:52.0 in 21st), Jack Olsen (21:05.3 in 34th), Brock White (21:53.5 in 43rd), Kinnick Kaufman (22:23.6 in 46th) and Marshall Opperman (23:34.7 in 48th) anchored Newell-Fonda.

Julio Valenzuela (21:48.2) was 42nd for Pocahontas Area. Jordyn Gonzalez (24:23.1 in 53rd) and Paul Peterson (28:17.2 in 57th) also competed for PAC.

West Bend-Mallard’s Bryson Kampen (23:14.2) was 47th.
