Ten straight for Iowa Central

The Fort Dodge girls swim team competed in a triangular here Thursday night with Algona and Sioux City Metro.

Gracie Harvey paced the Dodgers with a pair of individual runner-up finishes, as Karlee Pearson also scored a silver.

Harvey was the runner-up in both the 50 freestyle and 100 butterfly. She had a time of 27.59 in the free and went 1:13.86 in the butterfly.

Pearson, meanwhile, grabbed second in the 200 individual medley in 2:33.05 to go along with a third in the 100 breaststroke (1:13.86).

Teagan Loots claimed bronze in the 100 freestyle and 200 freestyle events. Loots went 1:08.72 in the 100 and 2:35.84 in the 200.

Harvey, Breanna Kalvig, Loots and Pearson were second in the 400 freestyle relay in 4:40.09.

“It’s great to be back home,” FDSH head coach Ashley Beaumont said. “I think this really shows with the girls’ times that they are happy to be in front of a home crowd too. The girls are improving so much each meet.

“We are learning and figuring out the best races for each girl. We are seeing massive time drops from our younger girls. Karlee had a amazing race in the 100 breast now being solidly ranked in the Top-25 in the state.”

For Algona, Ella Welp captured the 50 freestyle in 26.03 and Reese Taylor won the diving event.

Fort Dodge is back in the pool twice next week, hosting Ames on Tuesday and the Gary Winkler Invitational next Saturday. The field for the invite will include Algona, Carroll, Sioux City West and Spencer.

Starting at $4.94/week.
