Strong day on the links for FD
DES MOINES — The Fort Dodge boys golf squad turned in their top nine-hole meet under head coach Nick Vinson on Tuesday.
The Dodgers shot a 159 in a triangular with Des Moines Roosevelt (155) and Des Moines East (200).
“We played good golf all day long,” Vinson said. “From what we saw, they had solid swings.
“Everbody had at least double (bogey), but didn’t have anything worse.”
Davis Underberg, Trace Rial and Jaxson Dencklau all shot 39s for the Dodgers. Mason Frevert (42), Gavin Davis (44) and Karter Hemrick (45) were next in line.
This is the middle match of a three-straight day stretch for the Dodgers.
“Waveland is consistently a hard course,” Vinson said. “We did a good job of getting three guys under 40 on a course they have never played.
“It’s been a while since we’ve shot in the 150s, and it was one of our better meets in a long time. We are grinding away at it as the beat goes on.”
The Dodger junior varsity was also in action. Competing for Fort Dodge was Leighton McCrady (48), Jake Pingel (56), Joseph Petersen (56), Nolan Price (58), Case Richardson (59), Colby Husske (65).
The Dodgers are back in action on Wednesday when they are at the Southeast Valley Invitational. Tee time is set for 9 a.m.
