The 13th-ranked Iowa Central volleyball team has found a rhythm.

The Tritons extended their win streak to eight over the weekend with four victories inside Hodges Fieldhouse, including a triumph over No. 12 Mesa.

Iowa Central (8-4 overall) topped both Seminole State and Mesa last Friday before sweeping Rochester Tech and Madison College on Saturday. Three of the four matches went the distance, while the other was a 3-0 sweep for the Tritons.

“It’s always fun hosting high-level teams and getting to watch great volleyball all weekend,” ICCC head coach Sara Horn said. “To go 4-0 while playing a couple ranked teams was definitely a testament to our leadership and mental toughness.

“Three of our matches went to five sets, so the players had to fight through some tiredness and dig deep.”

“We’re on an eight-match win streak and we’re proud of how hard they have been working, not only since August, but particularly after a tough opening weekend,” Horn said. “We have some great captain leadership, and the team has really been buying into where we want to be in November.”

In the win over Mesa, which included a 15-13 victory in the fifth, Talya Sampson had 23 kills and Cooper Griffin added 11. Sampson also had 24 digs, as did Fort Dodge Senior High graduate Meah McCaleb.

Anabel Seaman dished out 38 assists.

Addi Hindt, a Southeast Valley grad, had seven kills with five block assists, a solo block and one dig. Hindt also had nine kills vs. Rochester Tech and four vs. Madison College.

McCaleb had 27 digs vs. Madison College, 23 digs vs. Rochester Tech and 10 against Seminole State

Kyla Egli played in all five sets vs. Rochester Tech, recording two digs with two serving aces.

The Tritons hit the road to take on Northeast in ICCAC this Tuesday before returning home to host Hawkeye on Thursday.

Starting at $4.94/week.
