Bears reach 70-point mark
ALGONA — The top-ranked Bishop Garrigan football team put on a Homecoming show.
The Golden Bears (3-0 overall, 1-0 8-man-2) cruised past North Iowa (0-3, 0-3) for a 70-6 victory on Friday.
Running back Ethan Marso had a big ground game, running for 109 yards and three touchdowns. He had scoring jaunts of 45, 11 and six yards.
Tate Foertsch added another big night behind center, going 8-for-9 for 100 yards and three touchdowns. He connected with Madden Miller (19), Weston Rosenmeyer (15) and Kyle Bormann (17) for scores.
Carter Cink had a 50-yard rushing TD and a one-yard plunge to paydirt. Michael Joyce ran it in from 13 yards out.
Cink finished with 56 yards and CJ McGregor had 40 yards on the ground.
On the defensive side of the ball, Carter Schwab had seven tackles and two sacks. Madden Miller and Matt Besch had five tackles, while Karson Kramer had three.
Foertsch had an interception and Rosenmeyer recovered a fumble.
