Area preps set for Week 3

Two weeks into the prep football season, teams are starting to figure out who they are.
After big matchups in Week 2 both Algona (1-1) and Humboldt (1-1) are back on the road. Webster City (1-1) will join its North Central Conference counterparts on the road against third-ranked Clear Lake (2-0).
Emmetsburg (2-0) will have a ranked showdown, playing up a class. The sixth-ranked E-Hawks (Class 1A) will travel to face fourth-ranked (2A) Okoboji (2-0).
Southeast Valley (1-1) will look to get back in the win column, after a comeback against Emmetsburg fell short last week. The Jaguars will entertain South Hamilton (0-2).
After earning a victory in Week 1, Eagle Grove (1-1) lost a tight contest last Friday and will look to bounce back against unbeaten West Fork (2-0).
Algona (1-1) at Forest City (0-2)
Algona will get a slight breather this week after facing the top-ranked team in Class 2A.
The Bulldogs, who received votes in the first AP Poll, lost to No. 1 Carroll Kuemper (2-0), 52-21 last week.
The Algona defense gave up 367 yards of total offense. Kuemper quarterback Brock Badding threw for 229 yards and four touchdowns. Jarin Hoffman ran for 109 and two scores.
Algona quarterback Nathan Manske threw for 132 and two touchdowns, while Tate Garman had a rushing touchdown.
Forest City is coming off a 19-15 loss to Charles City (2-0). Forest City’s Jackson Smith threw for a touchdown and Deegan Morre ran for one.
On the season Manske has thrown for 253 yards and four scores. William Weichert has 286 yards rushing and a score. Manske and Garman have rushing touchdowns.
Taevyn Zinnel, Evan Allie, Garman and Micah Kitzinger have touchdown catches.
Humboldt (1-1) at Carroll (0-2)
The Wildcats are coming off a tough loss to the third-ranked Lions (2-0).
Clear Lake quarterback Jaxson McIntire accounted for all the scoring, throwing a touchdown pass to Kolby Hodnefield and rushing for two.
For Humboldt, Jackson Flaherty threw a three-yard touchdown pass to his twin brother Chase.
Carroll is coming off a 27-19 loss to Spencer.
On the season Jackson Flaherty has thrown for 212 yards and two touchdowns. Chas McIntire has 125 yards receiving and three scores. Chase Flaherty has both touchdown catches.
For the Tigers, Adam Malik has 179 yards on the ground and two scores. Camden King and Kieran Polking both have rushing touchdowns.
Webster City (1-1) at Clear Lake (2-0)
Webster City is coming off a defensive slugfest with seventh-ranked (4A) Fort Dodge (2-0). The Lynx managed 147 yards of total offense. Jaxon Griffith had the lone touchdown from 42 yards out.
Webster City quarterback Aiden Hrnicek has thrown for one touchdown and ran for two. Kaleb Hansen has two rushing touchdowns, while Griffith and Edwin Ramos Nolasco have one each.
For Clear Lake, McIntire has thrown for 340 yards and three scores. Sam Dodge has 131 yards on the ground and four scores, while McIntire has run for two.
South Hamilton (0-2) at Southeast Valley (1-1)
The Jaguars nearly rallied past Emmetsburg last week. Trailing 28-7, Southeast Valley scored 20 points to close the gap, but the rally fell short, 34-27.
Quarterback Mason Bahr threw for 106 yards and a 36-yard scoring strike to Bryce Harrison. Casey Hanson ran for two scores and Bahr had one.
South Hamilton lost to Panorama (28-26). Wyatt Gelder ran for 152 yards and three touchdowns for the Hawks.
On the season Gelder has four rushing touchdowns for the Hawks.
The dual threat quarterback mission for Southeast Valley has been working as bahr and Hanson have thrown for 397 yards and five scores each. Bahr has two and Hanson has three touchdown passes respectively.
On the ground Hanson has two scores, Bahr has one and Drew Temple has reached the end zone once.
Logan Jaeschke has three receiving scores and 154 yards, while Harrison has two touchdown catches.
No. 6 (1A) Emmetsburg (2-0) at No. 4 (2A) Okoboji (2-0)
The area match up of the night may be in Okoboji.
The E-Hawks have outscored their opponents 61-34 on the season, while the Pioneers have scored 86 points to their opponents six.
In their win over Southeast Valley Tyce Jenness ran for 89 yards and four scores, while Bradyen Yates also reached paydirt.
Okoboji is coming off a 37-6 win over Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley.
Pioneer quarterback Trey Vander Pol threw for 157 yards and two touchdowns. He connected with Avery Simington from 57 yards out and Jerron Heller caught a nine-yard strike. On the ground, Miles Wasson had an eight-yard touchdown plunge.
In two games Jenness has six touchdowns and 122 yards. Yates has run for 338 and three scores.
Vander Pol has six touchdown passes and 365 yards. The Pioneers have thrown for 404 yards and ran for 172.
West Fork (2-0) at Eagle Grove (1-1)
Eagle Grove lost a tight 25-24 contest to Ogden (2-0) last Friday. Eagle Grove led 16-13 at the half.
Trenton Robinson, Leelan Spencer and Gavin Pedersen had rushing touchdowns.
The Warhawks beat BCLUW 56-20. Zander Hansen was 4-for-4 passing for 129 yards and touchdowns. He connected with Rylan Dorenkamp twice for two scores. Both Dorenkamp’s catches were for scores, from 62 yards and 19 yards out.
Dax Suntken had 120 yards on the ground and three scores. Connor Swenson ran for two scores and Tyler Fessler added one.
The Warhawks have run for 640 yards and nine scores. Suntken has three trips to the end zone, while Swenson, Hansen and Fessler have each scored twice.
Eagle Grove has 415 yards on the ground. Adrian Whipple has two touchdowns, while Robinson, Spencer and Pedersen have one each.
