DES MOINES — The Fort Dodge girls tennis team picked up a commanding 11-0 victory over Centerville here on Thursday.
Manuela Rodriguez, Madge Hensley, Mia Carpenter, Grace Rivera, Teagan Loots and Brooklyn Kaloupek were winners in singles, as both Hensley and Loots posted 8-0 set victories.
In doubles, Carpenter and Rivera, Loots and Kaloupek, Rodriguez and Hensley and Caitlyn Uhlenhopp and Lily Sheeder, and Leah Myer and Taylor Martin scored wins. Loots and Kaloupek earned an 8-0 victory.
“They were short-handed with only five players, so we moved our No. 2 and No. 3 doubles teams up to play No. 1 and No. 2,” FDSH head coach Julie Astor said. “I thought all four did a great job, as Mia, Grace, Teagan and Brooklyn did not skip a beat.
“In singles, Manu and Madge took control of their matches and didn’t look back. We had a great practice on Wednesday and I saw that carry over into the match.”
Fort Dodge returns to action on Tuesday morning when they host Mason City on Dodger Courts at 10 a.m.
