Dodgers lose on the road

DES MOINES — The Fort Dodge girls tennis team dropped an 8-3 decision to Des Moines Roosevelt here Thursday.

Grace Rivera had the lone singles victory, posting a 6-1, 6-1 triumph over Annabel Albright at No. 3. In doubles, Manuela Rodriguez and Madge Hensley won in a super-tiebreaker at No. 1, as did Teagan Loots and Brooklyn Kaloupek at No. 3.

Hensley and Kaloupek each suffered losses in super-tiebreaker sets in singles, as did Leah Myer and Taylor Martin in doubles.

“Roosevelt doesn’t have a weak spot in its lineup,” FDSH head coach Julie Astor said. “We fought hard and we were in several matches. I am proud of the progress Grace has made, as she just continues to work hard and take all the advice thrown at her.

“I just keep telling the girls one day at a time, one match at a time, improve every day and they will get where they want to go.”

Fort Dodge is right back in action as they head to Urbandale to face Norwalk and the J-Hawks on Friday beginning at 10 a.m.

Starting at $4.94/week.
