Area players get to showcase talents in All-Star exhibitions

Fort Dodge senior standouts Rylan Kingrey and Royce Pederson competed for the Large Schools West squad in the annual Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association All-Star Series this past weekend in Ankeny and Urbandale.
Kingrey played outfield and Pederson was both an infielder and a pitcher for the elite squad, which won two of the three games in the competition. Kingrey recorded an infield single and had an RBI. Pederson doubled and worked four effective innings on the mound, striking out three and surrendering just one earned run and one hit.
The large school teams played on Thursday and Friday in Ankeny and Saturday in Urbandale.
Kingrey, who hit .392 as a senior with 59 runs scored, is headed to Northeast Iowa Community College for baseball. Pederson, who led the state in doubles this past year while batting .425, is joining head coach Eric Stein’s Iowa Central program.
Kingrey and Pederson were both first team all-Iowa Alliance Conference selections.

Humboldt’s Isaiah Busick and Algona teammates Tate Slagle and Aiden Ulrich were picked to suit up for the Small Schools West squad. Bulldog head coach Chad Slagle served as an assistant.
On the softball side, St. Edmond all-stater Mariah Myers participated in the 2025 IGCA All-Star Series in Waukee. Myers won the home run derby competition.
