Sports Park Raceway crowns 4th of July winners

Another night of exciting action — with a fireworks show to boot — hit the Sports Park Raceway track on Friday as part of the latest the Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series stop.
Drivers competed in front of a healthy crowd on the Fourth of July before rains washed out the scheduled Saturday competition.
Fort Dodge’s Myles Michehl dominated the Marsh Concrete USRA Stock Car feature, securing the victory. Rodney Schweizer, of Kansas City, Kan., was second. Kyle Rose of Cambridge placed third, Jason Minnehan of Churdan fourth, and Jason Purvis of Boone in fifth.
Jeremy Crimmins of Fort Dodge led the Pickett Salvage USRA Hobby Stock feature for another victory. Bryce Sommerfeld of Fort Dodge secured second, followed by Riley Crimmins of Fort Dodge, Branden Schaer of Garner in fourth and Andrew Inman of Mason City.
Ty Griffith of Blairsburg topped the White Transfer and Storage USRA B-Mod feature. James Richert of Comfrey, Minn., finished second, with Klay Beemer of Fairmont, Minn., in third.
Braxton Wallace of Greenfield captured the Matt’s Tire Service USRA Tuner feature victory. David Kimmel of New Virginia was second, followed by Dale Gatton of Fairmont, Minn., Charles Prime of Britt and Danelle Lenz of Fort Dodge.
Lyle Sathoff of Sherburn, Minn., took the United Plant Services USRA Modified feature win ahead of Robert Bennett of Woolstock for the checkered flag.
Todd Jansonius of Carroll prevailed in the Dillon Tree Service Vintage Cars feature race, with Rex Jansonius of Geneva in second.
Fort Dodge’s Nick Hogan won the Culver’s 4.6 Crown Vics feature, followed by Nate Hogan and Tyler Crimmins, both of Fort Dodge.
Kids Night is the next scheduled event for Sports Park Raceway on Saturday, July 19. USRA Modifieds, USRA B-Mods, USRA Stock Cars, USRA Hobby Stocks, USRA Tuners, Vintage Cars and SPR 4.6 Crown Vics are slated for action.
