East edges FDSH twice

WATERLOO — The Fort Dodge baseball team dropped a tough doubleheader to Waterloo East here Wednesday night.

Scores were 4-3 and 5-3.

In the opener, the Trojans rallied with three runs in the seventh to erase a 3-1 deficit. The Dodgers scored two in the third and added a run in the sixth.

Royce Pederson finished 2-for-3 at the plate. Jaxson Dencklau, Tru McBride and Reggie Pederson each drove in a run, as McBride had a double and stole a base.

Freshman Cael Adams started, striking out three in four-plus innings on the mound and allowing only a single earned run.

Waterloo East (10-17 overall) took control of the nightcap with five in the opening inning, but Royce Pederson came on in relief and provided five hitless innings, striking out seven with just one walk.

Dencklau stole two bases and had two hits. Kolton Schiltz, Pederson and Dencklau all drove in a run. Tanner Peterson drew two walks and had a hit.

The Dodgers (23-13) are off until Monday when they host Clinton at 11 a.m.
