Dodgers open with Mason City
The Fort Dodge baseball team opens postseason play here Friday night at Ed McNeil Field — weather pending.
Rain is forecast for much of the day, which could factor in getting a Class 4A, Substate 4 opener vs. Mason City in.
First pitch is set for 7 p.m.
These two are very familiar with one another, as the Dodgers (26-13 overall) and Riverhawks (24-12) are both members of the Iowa Alliance Conference North. They have played four times this year and 63 times since 2009, with Fort Dodge holding a slim 32-31 advantage.
Back in late June, the Dodgers swept a two-game set with Mason City by scores of 9-4 and 7-1, as they split the first doubleheader. Fort Dodge won the opener, 10-2, and fell in the nightcap, 7-3.
