No. 7 Gaels blank GTRA
TERRIL — The seventh-ranked (Class 1A) St. Edmond softball team posted an 11-0 victory in four innings here Thursday night over GTRA.
Faith Shirbroun and Ansley Oswald both had doubles for the Gaels, who plated six runs in the opening inning.
Shirbroun, who was 4-for-4 on Wednesday night, recorded two more hits and drove in four runs while scoring once. Oswald finished 3-for-3 with three RBI and two runs scored.
“Our offense just continues to generate big innings,” SEHS head coach Bill Shirbroun said. “The girls are doing a great job at the plate of stringing things together and moving runners along.”
Jade Rock had two hits with an RBI and a run scored, Lauren Gibb drove in a pair and both Toryn Helle and Hadley Oswald worked two walks.
Rihanna Myers got the start, striking out two over two perfect innings while Helle finished it off with four strikeouts in her two innings of action.
St. Edmond returns home to host Clarion-Goldfield/Dows on Friday night at Rogers Park in North Central Conference play.
