No. 4 Gaels stay unbeaten in NCC
HAMPTON — The fourth-ranked (Class 1A) St. Edmond softball team remained perfect in North Central Conference action here Wednesday night, besting Hampton-Dumont/CAL, 9-3.
The Gaels have won 21 straight games in the league overall, improving to 6-2 on the year and 3-0 in the NCC.
Mariah Myers went deep for the third time this season, as Sophia Schlienz continued her strong offensive play with three hits, two runs scored and an RBI. Schlienz had two doubles.
Faith Shirbroun had two hits while Lauren Gibb recorded a triple and scored twice. Hadley Oswald had a pair of RBI while Shirbroun, Toryn Helle and Myrah Lemon both drove in runs.
Helle was also 2-for-2 with a run scored and two walks.
“It was great to see us get 12 hits as a team,” SEHS head coach Bill Shirbroun said. “We were able to string things together. We still left some runners out there and had situations to add to the lead, but we’re starting to put it together.
“Our pitchers did a great job of throwing strikes and not walking batters.”
Breckyn Ulrich got the start, going three with five strikeouts, as Rihanna Myers pitched the final four innings with seven strikeouts.
St. Edmond is back at home on Friday, hosting Webster City at Rogers Park.
