The Iowa Central softball team experienced a memorable and successful season, ending with a trip to the NJCAA World Series.

More postseason honors have continued to come in for the Tritons, as two players were named All-American by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.

Iowa Central’s Bre Nolte and Jayda Long each made the second team from the NFCA while also earning first team all-Midwest Region honors.

Des Moines Area freshman Kierra Jungers, a former Newell-Fonda standout, was also named to the NFCA second team along with being a first team selection by the NJCAA as a pitcher.

The Tritons went 49-12 this past season, placing second in the ICCAC while earning an at-large bid to the national tournament. They finished in the Top-8 at the World Series.

“We had an incredible season that was led by sophomores like Bre and Jayda,” ICCC head coach Bo Tjebben said. “These girls all invested the time and energy needed to become exceptional softball players, and they led by example on and off the field.”

Nolte, a sophomore catcher/infielder, hit .435 with 11 home runs, 58 RBI, 70 runs scored and 20 doubles while sporting a slugging percentage of .806.

Long, a sophomore pitcher/infielder, went 22-5 inside the circle with 145 strikeouts in 147 innings with an earned run average of 2.48. She also hit .366 with 40 RBI, 67 runs scored, 24 doubles and seven steals.

Kaylee Cary of Iowa Central was one of 27 recipients of the 2025 NJCAA Rawlings Gold Glove Award presented by the NFCA. Cary, a shortstop, was named as an infield along with three others including Kirkwood’s Kiya Johnson.

Cary and Johnson were the lone ICCAC players named to the list.

“We are so incredibly proud of all of our players,” Tjebben said. “They helped put Iowa Central softball where it is today.”

Jungers, who also made the NFCA all-region, was 25-2 with 215 strikeouts in just under 133 innings, sporting an earned run average of 1.53 with a .98 WHIP.
