Middleton Classic this weekend
MANSON — The annual Middleton Classic returns to the Manson Golf and Country Club this weekend.
Saturday and Sunday’s 18-hole events tee off at 9 a.m., with the championship nine to take place early Sunday evening. Live scoring will be available throughout along with live music each day.
The event, hosted by Elias Johnson, is held each year in honor of former Manson Northwest Webster High School teacher and coach, Joe Middleton. Middleton passed away in 2007.
Kenny Willers and Jake Murrow picked up the overall trophy, firing a 27-hole total of 17-under for their second title at the event. The duo won the Sunday 18-hole portion at 12-under, as Jordan Sogard and Devin Gallentine claimed Saturday’s at 9-under.
Jim Dalton and Todd Essing fired a 5-under to win the senior division.
Murrow will partner with Brad Hoefing this year while Dalton and Essing return to defend their title. Gallentine is set to play with John Gallentine.
Several other former champions have signed up including recent winners Eddie Doyle and Blaine Buhr, Ryan Kinseth and Cory Cummins, and Sean Hood and Grantt Miller.
Doyle and Buhr had their tournament-record run of three consecutive titles ended last year.
Recent MNW graduates Evelyn Droste and Brody Proctor were recipients of the Joe L. Middleton Scholarships this year, with each receiving $6,000. Droste and Proctor will be on hand Sunday of the tournament.
