All-America honors for Triton pair

Two Iowa Central baseball players were named to the NJCAA Div. II All-America team recently.
Both Chris McCormack and Cooper Nicholson earned third team honors for the Tritons, who reached the national semifinals earlier this year.
McCormack, the ICCAC Pitcher of the Year, went 11-0 on the year with two saves and two complete games. He struck out 82 batters in just over 63 innings pitched, sporting an earned run average of 2.47 and a WHIP of just 0.91 over 16 appearances.
Nicholson, who also earned All-American honors as a freshman, hit 21 home runs with 65 RBI, scoring 88 runs and stealing 20 bases. He had a batting average of .324 with an on-base of .470 and a slugging percentage of .680.
The ICCAC had three players on the first team and a total of nine receive recognition in all.

Iowa Central was fourth at the NJCAA Div. II World Series. This marked the Tritons’ first appearance there since 2010.
