SE Valley boys win TLC track title
SIOUX RAPIDS — The Southeast Valley boys track and field team kept Sioux Central from sweeping the Twin Lakes Conference here Tuesday night.
Behind a host of medal finishes, the Jaguars claimed the team title with 136 points. The Rebels, who won the girls crown, finished second followed by South Central Calhoun and Manson Northwest Webster.
In the girls team race, the Cougars finished second with the Indians third and the Mustangs fourth.
Dreyvon Steadman and Kayden Showers swept the sprints, as Steadman won the 100 and Showers the 200. Showers was also second in the 100.
The Jaguars earned three relay titles, placing first in the 4×100, 4×200 and 4×400. Logan Jaeschke and Bryce Harrison ran on all three relays while Steadman and Showers were on two.
Harrison (long jump), Alex Burger (400 hurdles), the sprint medley and shuttle hurdle relays were all second while Ian Brunner was third in the shot put.
Redge Potts paced the Titans, winning both the 1,600 and 3,200. Jace Pedersen captured the shot put and added a silver in the discus. Darius Eigsti (200), Cole Judisch (400), Andrew Anderson (high jump) and Wyatt Mernka (discus) were all third.
As he has done throughout the year, Matt Condon dominated, as the MNW senior won four titles. Condon was first in the 110 hurdles, 400 hurdles, high jump and long jump events.
Jack Hoeppener (800), Thatcher Oswald (1,600), the 4×800 and distance medley relays all placed second for the Cougars.
Owen Engel had the top finish for the Raiders, placing third in the 3,200. The E-Hawks won the shuttle hurdle relay with Byron Maina placing second. Emmetsburg was also runners-up in the 4×100 and placed third in the sprint medley.
For the Indians, Adam Marsh claimed the discus and the 4×100 finished third. Jake Roberts was second in the shot put for the Mustangs.
Alyssa Richman scored a pair of firsts for the MNW girls, winning the 1,500 and 3,000. Kyla Egli was the runner-up in the 100 hurdles and long jump while Ava Moline took second in the discus and third in the shot put. Elissa Anderson added a third in the discus.
Halee Hauswirth won the shot put and Danica Dreith the 100 hurdles for Pocahontas Area, who were also first in the 4×200. The Indians placed second in the 4×100 and third in the shuttle hurdle relay.
Newell-Fonda won the 4×400 and finished second in the 4×200, 4×800 and sprint medley relays. Lindsey Wolf (high jump), Mareni Brabec (1,500) and the distance medley relay were all third.
Rachel Schany led Emmetsburg, as she was first in the 400, high jump and long jump, adding a silver in the 800.
Wendie Veit won the 400 hurdles and was third in the long jump for East Sac County, who also won the shuttle hurdle relay.
Tyra Schupbach (3,000) and Allie Fehr (high jump) placed second to lead West Bend-Mallard, with Maddie Fehr taking third in the 100.
Tristin Gorden won the discus and placed second in the shot put for South Central Calhoun. Mya Ridgely finished second in the 100 and third in the 200.
Camryn Lane (400) and the 4×100 relay were both third for Southeast Valley.
