Iowa Central splits with Kirkwood in baseball

The No. 14 Iowa Central baseball squad split with Kirkwood on Friday at Rogers Park.

After dropping the opener, 6-4, the Tritons (39-13 overall, 23-9 in the ICCAC) posted an 8-3 victory.

Jake Busson hit a two-run home run, and Chayton Fischer smacked a two-run double as part of a four-run third inning to anchor the offense in the nightcap. Carter Giesen was the winning pitcher for Iowa Central.

In the opener, Ryan Ohm struck out 10 and Fischer connected for a two-run triple. The Eagles (35-20, 20-12) plated five runs in the sixth and seventh innings to pull away, though.

These same squads square off on Saturday at noon back at Rogers Park.

Starting at $2.99/week.
