Tritons bow out in NJCAA World Series semifinals

ENID, Okla. — The Iowa Central baseball team saw their season come to an end here Thursday at the NJCAA Div. II World Series.
Following a thrilling late night victory over Madison, the Tritons were eliminated in the semifinals by top-seed and No. 1 ranked Pasco-Hernando State, 11-1 in five innings.
Iowa Central’s (48-17 overall) only two losses at the national tournament came at the hands of Pasco-Hernando State (51-10), who now advances to face either Pearl River or East Central for the title.
Chayton Fischer had a hit and drove in a run as Luke Bohonek scored the only run for the Tritons, who fell behind 6-0 after one and 9-0 after two.
Bradon Durfee, Fano Cruz and Bryce Habuda each had two hits for Pasco-Hernando State, with Durfee and Anthony Cole both driving in a pair.
For Iowa Central, Bryson Carpenter, Isaiah Scott, Cade Sears and Bohonek all had a hit. Nick Discher pitched two innings of scoreless baseball, allowing just one hit.
This marked the first time the Tritons had qualified for the World Series since 2010, having also reached the final four that year. Iowa Central has 10 appearances all-time and three runner-up finishes.
