Flowers named Director of Athletics at Winona State

WINONA, Minn. — Jennifer (Jepson) Flowers has made a career out of leaving her mark in college athletics.

Now, the Manson native has added another accomplishment to her resume, as she was recently named the Director of Athletics at Winona State University.

Flowers is the first female to oversee both women’s and men’s programs at the university. She will provide administrative leadership for the university’s comprehensive athletics program and collaborate across the university community to foster a culture of student athlete success, work to align university athletics with Winona State’s strategic priorities and external relations endeavors, including fundraising, marketing promotions and public relations.

“I am humbled and grateful for the opportunity to return to Winona State to lead the athletics department,” Flowers said. “Winona State is an incredibly special place for myself and my family.”

Flowers is wrapping up her third year as the Director of Athletics at Southwest Minnesota State University. She has also been actively involved with various regional and national committees during her career.

Other career achievements include being named to the NCAA Div. II Management Council, being the Commissioner for the Western Collegiate Hockey Association and the Assistant to the Associate Athletic Director at the University of Minnesota.

“We’re proud to welcome Jen to the Winona State community of learners,” said Dr. Kenneth Janz, President of Winona State University. “Her dedication to excellence and student-centered leadership will be a great addition to our campus and to our Warriors athletics program.”

The 1999 graduate of Manson Northwest Webster played volleyball for Winona State, where she was a two-time captain, two-time all-conference honoree and three-time Academic All-NCIC selection.

Flowers and her husband, Jonte, have two children.
