FD’s Daniel captures 200 title at IAC meet

Messenger photo by Britt Kudla: Fort Dodge junior Noah Daniel won the 200-meter dash in the IAC Championships at Ottumwa on Tuesday.

OTTUMWA — Noah Daniel earned a conference championship here Tuesday night to lead the Fort Dodge boys track and field squad.

Daniel captured the 200-meter dash at the Iowa Alliance Conference meet hosted by Ottumwa at Schafer Stadium. The junior, who went 22.68 to top Teaghan Warren of Des Moines East, was also third in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.18.

Daniel was a state qualifier a year ago.

Sophomore Kyree Rochon, junior Tytrell Mosley, sophomore Jayce Point and sophomore Cael Hansen went 3:44.41 to finish third in the distance medley relay for the Dodgers, who were eighth overall.

Sophomore Joe Constable (discus) and sophomore Mason Bolton (110 hurdles) added sixth-place finishes, while the sprint medley relay of Rochon, Daniel, sophomore Sam Moser and senior Hunter Richardson placed seventh.

Richardson was seventh in the 110 hurdles, and junior Dalton Eckley was eighth in the high jump for Fort Dodge. Freshman Luke Beckley, sophomore Tru McBride, Moser and Daniel placed seventh in the 4×100.

Point, Moser, Richardson and Beckley closed the evening by finishing seventh in the 4×400.

Des Moines Roosevelt was first in the final team standings, followed by Ames, Des Moines East, Marshalltown and Des Moines Lincoln rounding out the Top-5.

Next action for the Dodgers will be on May 15 when they head to Mason City for a Class 4A state qualifier.
