The Fort Dodge girls tennis team dropped a 9-2 decision to Ankeny Centennial at Dodger Courts on Friday.
Manuela Rodriguez and Amy Muftillaeva both picked up singles wins at No. 1 and No. 2.
Rodriguez beat Talia Baca, 6-1 and 6-3. Muftillaeva won, 6-1 and 6-1.
“Manu and Amy continue to dominate their opponents,” said FDSH coach Julie Astor. “Both just have solid fundamentals, understand the game and have the drive and determination to get the job done.”
The Dodgers have one final home match on Tuesday when they host Des Moines Lincoln at 4 p.m. before regionals.
“With the season winding down, we are trying a few girls in different spots so that we can build a strong lineup for regionals,” Astor said. “We still have to work out some kinks, like finishing points. There have been some key points that we have lost…if we win those, the momentum swings in our favor.
“I see the girls in a long rally and the ending isn’t in our favor, all of a sudden that snowballs and the game is lost. We have to figure it out, have a short memory and move on. Mistakes will happen, but we have to be confident that the next point is ours to win.”
