Dencklau 17th for Dodger girls
WATERLOO — The Fort Dodge girls golf team placed eighth here Tuesday at the Iowa Alliance Conference championship.
Ames was crowned the winner behind 79s from Elizabeth Duncan and Emersen Motl at Gates Park Golf Course. Marshalltown was second and Des Moines Roosevelt placed third.
For the Dodgers, senior Braxtyn Dencklau shot a 98 and finished in 17th place out of 53 players. Emma Lloyd was next at 109, followed by Alani Crouse at 111, Brielle Crouch at 137 and Gracie Harvey at 140.
On Saturday at the Storm Lake Invitational, Lloyd earned a medal by placing 8th with a round of 95. Dencklau (105) was next in line. The Dodgers were fifth in the eight-team field, finishing behind MOC-Floyd Valley, Algona and Spencer but ahead of Humboldt, Carroll and Storm Lake at the Lake Creek Country Club.
Lainey Venteicher (94) led the Bulldogs. Sophia List (111) paced the Wildcats.
Fort Dodge hosts its own invitational on Friday beginning at 10 a.m.
