IOWA FALLS — Mariah Myers added another record to her resume here Monday night at the Cadet Relays hosted by Iowa Falls-Alden.
Myers, a senior, broke the St. Edmond girls track and field record in the shot put with a throw of 42-2, winning the event by nearly three feet. The University of Iowa softball commit already holds the Gael discus record, as she placed second in that.
Overall, St. Edmond was sixth. Grundy Center took home team honors followed by Humboldt.
Webster City finished fourth and Eagle Grove was seventh.
Anna Lursen captured the 200-meter dash, and also ran the anchor on the winning distance medley relay. Joining her were Faith Shirbroun, McKenna Kvale and Naomi Valles.
Josie Harvey was the 100 hurdles runner-up, Lily Eslick placed third in the 3,000, Valles was fourth in the 800 and Ava Bradley finished fourth in the 400 and second in the junior varsity 200.
“This was a fun meet,” SEHS head coach CJ Tracy said. “A lot of the girls were put into some new events, and they did a very good job.
“Monday meets are never my favorite, but we’re very happy with how the girls went out and competed. It gives us more time to get ready for the (North Central Conference) meet on Thursday.”
Humboldt saw Aubry Fisher sweep the distance events, winning the 1,500 in 5:22.16 and the 3,000 in 11:26.67. The Wildcat 4×800 relay of Meg Zweibohmer, Avery Fisher, Gracey May and Landry Lash also placed first in 11:11.60.
Brynn Malo was second in the 800, with Avery Fisher finishing right behind her. Macey Rodgers was third in the 800, as the 4×200 and 4×400 relays both scored silvers while the sprint medley earned bronze.
For Webster City, the sprint medley and distance medley relays each finished second. Kali Hartnett, Isabel Weinschenk, Cloe Savitski and Isabel Grossoehme ran the sprint medley. Hartnett, Tristyn Wright, Savitski and Grossoehme comprised the distance medley.
Savitski (200), Adysen Poppen (shot put) and Jakaela Cherry (discus) all placed third, as did the 4×100, 4×400 and 4×800 for the Lynx.
Eagle Grove’s Addyson Jeske won the long jump (16-6.25). Taytum Edwards (200) and Myka Anderson (400 hurdles) both placed second for the Eagles.
