Webster City boys prevail at SE Valley

GOWRIE — The Webster City boys track and field team picked up gold here Tuesday evening at the Southeast Valley Invitational.
The Lynx claimed the team title in Class A over Roland-Story and Madrid. The host Jaguars were fourth followed by Manson Northwest Webster, Ogden, Pocahontas Area and Gilbert.
Jayden Weinzetl won the sprint events, picking up gold in both the 100 and 200 for Webster City. Weinzetl went 10.95 in the 100 and 23.15 in the 200.
Jaxon Griffith clocked a time of 15.31 to place first in the 110 hurdles while Justin Callahan made it a Lynx sweep by winning the 400 hurdles in 57.99. Gabe Thumma captured the 3,200 in 11:38.23, as Webster City was also first in the 4×800 relay in 8:50.7.
Second place medals went to Beau Nohrenberg (shot put), Daniel Murillo (800), the sprint medley and 4×400 relays while Cole Nohrenberg added a third in the discus, as did the distance medley and shuttle hurdle relays.
Matt Condon had two of the three wins for Manson Northwest Webster, placing first in the long jump (22-1) and 400 (52.09). Jack Hoeppner won the 800 in 2:08.26.
Mason Anderson (high jump), Broc Patzner (400) and Thatcher Oswald (1,600) were all second.
Southeast Valley placed first in the sprint medley, distance medley, 4×100 and 4×400 relays, as Kayden Showers was second in the 100. The 4×200 was also runners-up while Kolton Ollinger (long jump and 400) and Casey Hanson (400 hurdles) added thirds.
Adam Marsh of Pocahontas Area was first in the discus.
