Triton softball squad moves to 16-1

MELBOURNE, Fla. — The Iowa Central softball team continued their sizzling start to the 2025 season with two more victories here on Friday.

The Tritons (16-1 overall) took care of Monroe University by a final of 8-0, before routing East Georgia State, 11-3.

Head coach Bo Tjebben’s squad has now won 12 consecutive games.

Jillian French (5-0) fired a one-hit shutout in Friday’s opener, striking out seven. Jayda Long went 3-for-4 with three runs scored and four RBI to pace the Iowa Central offense. Kennedy Palmer and Sydney Wilson added two hits each.

The Tritons scored four in the first inning and five more in the fifth to end the contest with EGSC early. Long had three doubles and scored three times. Breanna Nolte was 3-for-3 with three RBI, a double and a triple.

Palmer knocked in pair. Reagan Enright contributed two hits.

Long (7-1) worked four innings, whiffing four.

Iowa Central returns to action on Friday in a doubleheader at Johnson County in Overland Park, Kan.
