Tornadoes too much for Dodgers

STORM LAKE — The Fort Dodge boys had sixth-ranked (Class 3A) Storm Lake on the ropes here early in the second half.

The Tornadoes, though, went on a huge run to claim a 93-61 victory.

Hayden Zuspann sank four 3-pointers to score a team-high 14 points and lead the Dodgers, as Cade Westerhoff added 11 and Carter Woodruff finished with 10.

Freshman Brody Maehl contributed nine points and seven rebounds off the bench for FDSH

Storm Lake was paced by Cameron Boyd’s 29 points. Div. I prospect Jaidyn Coon added 27.

Coon, a 6-foot-7 junior who is receiving looks from Iowa and Creighton among others, had four triples and four dunks.

After falling in a big 21-5 hole, Fort Dodge battled back, cutting the deficit to just six at the break. With six to go in the second half, the Tornadoes led, 38-33, before going on a 55-28 run.

Up next for the Dodgers will be a trip to Des Moines North on Friday.
