Gael boys roll past Cadets

IOWA FALLS — The ninth-ranked (Class 1A) St. Edmond boys returned to North Central Conference play with a convincing 86-55 victory over Iowa Falls-Alden here Tuesday night.

Some 24 hours after kicking off a four-game week of road games with a win over Eagle Grove, the Gaels showed no signs of slowing down, scoring the first 16 points of the game in taking a 22-13 lead after one vs. the Cadets.

Hunter Horn scored a game-high 24 points with Carson Bargfrede adding 21 for St. Edmond (8-2 overall, 4-2 in league). Andrew Clavey added 14 and Jakob Koopman joined them in double figures with 12.

“I was proud of them for the way they came out and were ready to play,” SEHS head coach Adolph Kochendorfer said. “We did what we needed to do vs. their zone and our defensive made them work for what they go. That’s what you want to do on the road.”

Grant Galles added seven points for the Gaels, who have played seven of 10 games on the road with another being a neutral site game. They will conclude the season with seven of nine at home.

St. Edmond steps out of NCC play to travel to Manson Northwest Webster on Thursday before returning to league action Friday at Webster City.

Starting at $2.99/week.
