FD girls win third straight

WATERLOO — For the second straight night the Fort Dodge girls bowling team earned a victory.

It’s the third straight win for the Dodgers as they beat Waterloo East 2,145-2041.

The Fort Dodge boys lost 3,237-2,388.

It was the first time over 2,000 and the highest score of the season.

“The word of the night was consistency,” said Fort Dodge co-head coach Nick Vinson. “We’ve had a lot of meets where we had one low game and a high game. (Tonight) we had a mid-game and high game.

“We bowled well in baker’s. We had a low of 120. Everything else was above 140 and we finished with a 187.”

Both Calli Graves and Sammantha Welter were close to 300 series. Craves rolled a 169 and 128 for a 297 series. Welter had a 294 with games of 157 and 137.

Also competing for the Dodgers was Samantha Anderson (284), Gabby Santana-Bass (278), Ava Wessels (252) and Kaitlyn Folsom (222).

Trenton Beck led the boys with a 371 series. He had games of 192 and 179.

Kody VanValkenburg had a series of 322 with a high game of 181.

Also bowling for the Dodgers was Josh Jass (296), Blake Seeman (294), Shadin Roach (291) and Slade Babb (288).

“Some days at the alley can be frustrating, and this was one of those days,” said Dodger co-head coach Julie Ulrich.

The Dodgers are back in action when they head back to Waterloo for a baker’s tournament hosted by Independence.
