Dodgers earn road victory
DES MOINES — The Fort Dodge boys completed the season sweep over Des Moines East here Tuesday night, securing a 70-50 victory.
Cade Westerhoff had 22 points, scoring 13 in the second half as the Dodgers (2-8 overall) pulled away from the Scarlets over the final 16 minutes.
Earlier this month, Fort Dodge posted a 58-50 victory over the Scarlets (2-7) inside the Dodger gym. They have now won four in a row over Des Moines East.
“The kids needed that one,” FDSH head coach Willie Williams said. “Basketball can be a grind and we needed a win. It was fun to see the smiles back on their faces.”
Carter Woodruff added 12 points, Taevon Feeley scored seven and both Reggie Pederson and Tisyn Hook each scored six.
“Tisyn had the kind of game you need out of a bench player,” Williams said. “He was perfect, giving us all kinds of energy and doing the dirty work you need.
“I thought we did a great job of not taking our foot off the gas and letting them back in the game. We stepped up and finished it off.”
Hayden Zuspann chipped in with five points, Brody Maehl had four, both Tayven Altman and Gavin Davis scored, three and Kauner Jensen had two.
Fort Dodge concludes the week on Thursday when they host Des Moines Hoover. That game was originally scheduled for Friday but was moved up a night.
