MANSON — Manson Northwest Webster pushed four wrestlers into the finals in their home gym at the Doug Wood Invitational on Saturday.

Taylen Secory (138), Tristan Thompson (144), Mason Anderson (190) and Hendrik Puuraid (215) all finished second for the Cougars to help lead them to a third-place showing at 153.5 points.

Alta Aurelia (252.5) was the champion, followed by Woodbury Central (252).

Keaton Wittrock (106), Kale Kraft (113) and Eli Schoon (120) all placed third for MNW.

Secroy came up short in the finals versus Woodbury Central’s Gavin Wiig. Secroy had a technical fall and a pin to highlight his run.

Thompson dropped an 11-4 decision to Lakin Leekley of Woodbury Central in the gold-medal round after a fall in the semifinals.

Anderson lost to Colton Warren of Woodbury Central for the championship, after tallying a fall and major decision.

Puuraid lost by fall to Carter Wright in the finals. He picked up three first-period falls on his way to the runner up spot.

St. Edmond’s 11th-ranked (IAwrestle) Sam Myer took fourth. Myer bumped up to 150 pounds, where he reached the semis.

“I was really proud of our guys’ efforts,” said first-year Gael head coach Kaden McClintock. “I told them win or lose, we just have to get in the practice room and work on what we need to fix.”

Myer earned a fall in 1:23 of the quarterfinals over Manson Northwest Webster’s Wyatt Lahr. He lost a tough 12-11 decision in the semifinals before coming back with a fall in 3:22 of the consolation semifinals.

Myer then lost a tight 16-13 SV decision to Parker Glassmaker of MMCRU in the third place match.

“We had a tough day at 150,” McClintock said. “Sam was wrestling up a couple of weight classes. He came out and looked amazing in the first match, but was a little flat in the second.

“Sam will get things figured out and he’ll be alright.”

Dallas Grove (190) placed sixth for the Gaels. He earned a fall over Thomas McKinney of MMCRU in the consolation round.

“I’m super proud of Dallas,” McClintock said. “He is way undersized for 190. He worked really hard and fought the entire time.”

South Central Calhoun had two runner-up showings. Brayden Werneburg (120) lost to Gable VanOort of Alta Aurelia by fall (3:33) in the championship round. He won by medical forfeit in the quarters and picked up a fall in the semifinals.

Hayden Stickrod (165) lost by fall to Braden Young of South Hamilton in 31 seconds of the championship round. He had a fall in both the quarterfinal and semifinal rounds.

East Sac County’s Dawson Allen won the 157 pound crown. Allen pinned Alta Aurelia’s Tate Jarvis in 1:18 of the semis. He claimed gold with a fall (2:20) over Mason Carver of MMCRU.

Seth Donelson (175) was second and had two falls on the day.

West Bend-Mallard’s Mason Knapp earned a silver spot. Knapp lost to Eli Rieb of Alta Aurelia via pin (3:15) in the finals. He earned a 19-second fall in the quarters and a 1:10 pin in the semifinals.

St. Edmond is back in action on Tuesday when they host Clear Lake and Iowa Falls-Alden in the Gael gym.
