Tritons fall to No. 6 Indian Hills

OTTUMWA — Sixth-ranked (NJCAA Div. I) Indian Hills used its size and depth to wear the Iowa Central men down here Tuesday night, posting an 80-57 victory.

A six-point game at the half, the Tritons (6-2 overall) were outscored over the final 20 minutes by the Warriors (7-3), 47-30.

“They are a historically strong program year in and year out that sends waves of players to the NCAA Div. I level,” ICCC head coach Ryan Kirsch said. “I was really excited to schedule this game and really excited for the opportunity we had in front of us.

“It didn’t go our way but we were right there at the half. They just really, really guard and make it extremely hard to score. I know the final score my not look like it, but we really competed.”

Jordan Cain scored 14 points with CJ Mitchell adding 10 for Iowa Central. Cooper Randall chipped in nine with both Irakli Akhalaia and Aleix Sempere Serrano both grabbing six rebounds.

For Indian Hills, Zevin Gadson and Abdoulaye Fall each scored 13 with William Beugre-Kassi scoring 10 and 13 rebounds.

“We want to challenge this team to become as good as they can be by late February,” Kirsch said. “We have high expectations for this group and that is not going to change after a loss vs. a high caliber team.”

The Tritons return to the floor for their ICCAC opener on Saturday at home vs. Western Iowa Tech.

Starting at $2.99/week.
