With the high school winter sports season days away from offering up a full slate of action, The Messenger’s award-winning sports staff is ready to present its preview of what our area should expect in the weeks and months to come.

We have been preparing our 52-page Winter Sports Preview, which will be included as an insert with this Saturday’s print edition of the newspaper. Programs from Fort Dodge, St. Edmond and the 15 Messengerland schools are included in a tab that delves into the preparation of nearly 60 area squads.

The cover photo features Humboldt’s returning state wrestling medalists — Broedy Hendricks, Owen Mayall and Tyce Clarken — along with Wildcat head coach Chad Beaman and his assistants, Mark Cirks and Justin McDaniel. The Humboldt staff was honored as Class 2A’s best last season.
