TOUGH TEST
ALLEMAN — Coming off a tough loss, the road does not get any easier for Webster City, as the Lynx take on North Polk here Friday night.
Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
Webster City (1-1 overall) dropped a 24-14 decision last week in its home opener to Spencer, as they were held to just 144 yards of total offense.
Jaxon Griffith, a junior, had 90 of those on the ground and a score while Luke Estlund hit Carter Mickelson on a 17-yard strike for a touchdown.
Carson Bertran recorded an interception and Israel Torres made both of his extra-point kicks.
On the year, Griffith has 21 carries for 235 yards with two scores while Estlund has four total touchdowns and 140 yards of total offense.
Aiden Hrnicek and Estlund anchor the defense with 15 and 13 tackles, as Hrnicek has the lone sack.
The defense for the Lynx will be tested by Nathan Feldmann, as the North Polk (2-0) senior has rushed for 419 yards and seven scores. He is also 11 of 17 passing for 97 yards, including four connections with classmate Jake Hout.
After surviving a high-scoring tilt in Week 1 vs. Bondurant-Farrar, 42-41, the Comets topped Carlisle last Friday, 41-27.
Webster City owns the lone win in the series, earning a 21-20 victory last year behind a big night from Jaxon Cherry.
