Top-10 finishes for FD’s Recker, Hansen

MASON CITY — The Fort Dodge cross country teams both placed fifth here Tuesday evening at the Riverhawk Invitational.

Aidan Recker was eighth overall to pace the Dodger boys, while Cael Hansen placed ninth.

Waverly-Shell Rock’s Austin Soldwisch was the race winner. Garner-Hayfield/Ventura topped Mason City Newman for team gold.

The Webster City boys were sixth overall.

Recker clocked a time of 17:47, with Hansen less than seven seconds behind him. Jayce Point was 22nd overall, Madden Bailey 33rd, Jaxson Lowrey-Jones 39th, Corban McHone 41st and Elijah Lawrence 48th.

For the Lynx, Justin Callahan went 17:35 to finish fifth. Jack Barner placed 14th and Gabe Thumma 20th.

Madeline Stephan led the FDSH girls, coming home in 17th with a time of 23:17. Paisley Mundie was 23rd in 24:09. Saiya Noborikawa took 25th, Laila Grantham 26th, Madison Carmody 28th, Zoey Balm 30th and Paige Lewis 31st.

Webster City’s Izzy Grossoehme ran to a fifth-place individual effort in 21:02 as the Lynx were seventh overall. Mason City won the girls team title and individual race behind Brogan Evans, who clocked a time of 19:58.

Abby Peterson followed Grossoehme for Webster City, as she was 36th. Sydney Oswald took 37th and Lydia VanDeer 38th. Karina Murray rounded things out in 42nd overall.

Brooklyn Kaloupek led the Fort Dodge girls JV by placing sixth. Ella Johnson took 11th.

For the Dodger boys JV squad, Myles Summers was 31st, Josh Shields finished 34th, Brek Pingel was 40th, William Tyrrell was 41st, Brayden Kammerer was 44th and Anthony Turcios was 46th.

Fort Dodge returns to action Monday in Algona.
